Geoff and Sean planned their last day of driving with particular care. We had about 200 miles to drive into San Francisco but we didn’t want to get stuck in traffic jams. Their planning paid off with a lovely scenic drive before joining the mayhem of morning traffic around 10.30am. We made our way to downtown and dropped the cars off across the street from the hotel (Hilton on O’Farrell Street), We have completed an epic 8000kms on our journey across this vast country.
Spent some time exploring this afternoon around Union Square and rediscovering some familiar areas around Chinatown. I had forgotten just how hilly some of the streets were!
We enjoyed a fabulous San Francisco sunset from the 46th floor of the hotel – wow. Dined out on Mexican tonight – the Matador proved to be an excellent choice for some authentic dishes. So refreshing to dine in a casual, well priced establishment that did not add fries to any of their meals and there was no deep fryer in sight.
