Buru Island, Indonesia Day 9
Sunday 5th October 2025
This morning Geoff and I went on a nature walk with Rod spending time looking under leaves and finding Sphinx Moth Caterpillars, the largest jumping spider in the world, Spittle Bugs, Assassin Bugs, unique stick insects and countless butterflies.

We visited the local village built on stilts out over the water. Local children had a never-ending backflip competition from the jetties as we moved from our Zodiacs up into the village. We were greeted with a huge welcome dance that took up the whole town square, then had the chance to wander through the village built upon the clear waters that flow in from the ocean around Buru.

On our Zodiac cruise home, we disappeared into a mangrove forest, where at the end of the creek, we found a waterfall.
