Kangaroo Island Day 1

Monday 31st August 2026

We flew from Brisbane to Adelaide on Sunday. After a short time at the Adelaide airport we caught the connecting flight to Kangaroo Island. Picked up our hire car and found our accommodation at Emu Bay.

Called into Kingscote this morning for breakfast before stocking up on supplies at the local supermarket.

Took a drive down to the south coast of the island and Flinders Chase National Park. One thing we have underestimated is just how big the island is. We will have to return on another day to explore the park. It’s not ideal to drive around after dark because the wildlife tend to claim the roads and we didn’t want to be responsible for anymore little wallabies lying on the side of the road.
