We said farewell to Elaine and drove on to explore the area south of Hervey Bay – Poona, Boonooroo and Tin Can Bay. Futher on we found a great little campground at Boreen Point on Lake Cootharaba. We spent the afternoon relaxing on the white sandy beach before walking up to the local historic pub – Appolonian Hotel. Originally it was a hotel built in Gympie during the gold rush days and was recently moved to Boreen Point and restored. We enjoyed a couple of drinks and a great meal. The front lawn was the size of a cricket field and that’s what all the local kids were doing.
