Biak and Rusbasbedas Islands, West Papua Day 16
Sunday 12th October 2025
We landed on Biak Island and were bussed to a World War II historical site. Here, many men lost their lives in a terrible conflict between Japanese and American soldiers. Some of our party chose to walk deep into the ravine where the Japanese soldiers were trapped and killed.

Back on board for lunch whilst the Heritage Adventurer made its way to Rusbasbedas Island. The currents were very strong which meant that the fish life was active, so we were instructed that a drift snorkel would be the best approach. Lots of trevally cruised the drop off, while Butterflyfish and Parrotfish were busy at work through the coral. Back ashore, a bar was set up, and it was cocktails and some good beach time to finish the afternoon.

That evening, we were treated to a BBQ night on the back deck and feasted on an amazing buffet. The wine and beer flowed in equal portions followed by some dancing down in the lounge bar.
