Wakatobi National Park – Hoga Island, Indonesia Day 8
Saturday 4th October 2025
A rather strange experience today as we went ashore at Hoga Island and explored a deserted tropical resort. It was almost completely finished when it was destroyed by a weather event and has now been slowly deteriorating.
We took the opportunity to go snorkeling again.
Back on board for lunch, a spot of whale watching as a pod of Sperm Whales surfaced on the port side only fifty metres from Heritage Adventurer. Then it was into the lounge for a lecture from our guest presenter, Ian Burnett, who introduced us to one of the key biogeographic concepts that governs life in this area, the Wallace Line.
