After enjoying a fabulous day in Melbourne my friend Diane Clifford and I flew to Singapore on the first leg of our France 23 adventure. It was an 8 hour flight that arrived into Singapore at breakfast time.
We were greeted by Darwin style weather – hot and humid. 35C, feels like 35C.
Early check-in at the hotel afforded us the luxury of showers and a change of clothes before catching a taxi to Gardens by the Bay. Although I visited the Gardens in 2016 with Carmel and Sean, it was still an impressive installation with a number of new displays including The Last March, a Gillie & Marc installation. They are an Australian couple (of Dogman and Rabbitwoman fame) who have designed and produced the longest bronze sculpture in the world at 192 mts. They have begun a movement to elevate the cause of conservation in the public mind and inspire action.
After the Gardens we dined on local food in one the many food halls. Chicken and rice is often the preferred dish. Took some time out for an afternoon nap before venturing out again and finished off the day with a dip in the pool, enjoying the night lights of Singapore.
