Slept in. Breakfast on the verandah. Stretches on the verandah. Geoff led the Tai Chi on the grass.
Ben the backpacker arrived with a bottle of wine to say “thank you”. He and Geoff went for a surf and Ben gashed his knee on a rock. The boys applied first aid and advice before taking him to the hospital where he was given a tetnus injection and some stitches.
Off to the festival – First stop was Crossroads to see Keb’ Mo’, a mellow New Orleans style blues band. Bumped into Jacki and Craig Miller from Townsville as you do amongst 30,000 festival goers. Went on over to Mojo and had a listen to (heavily tattooed) Beth Hart – raucous. Wandered for a bit before setttling into Mojo again for another session with Trombone Shorty who entertained us with a completely different show. He was followed by British India, a Melbourne band who were a last minute fill in. They were good. Listened to Paolo Nuitini – not our style. Checked out Donavon Frenkenreiter in Delta (will catch his whole show on Saturday) and Hunter Hayes, will definitely be back to see more of him.
Caught the bus home and we were kicking back on the verandah by 10pm sipping a glass of chilled Pinot Grigio.
