Bowness-on-Windermere to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne

Monday 6th July 2026

Today was a travel day from the Lakes District across the Pennine Mountains to Newcastle. We had a stop off on the way at ancient Appleby-In-Westmorland. This town dates back to the 10th century. We walked around for a short while and took time out for a morning coffee from the local butcher shop and sat out the front on their bench seating and watched the townsfolk go about their everyday life.

We arrived at Richard and Kare’s home in Newcastle in time for afternoon tea. We met their very excitable Springer Spaniel, Conker.
