Devil Wears Prada 2 or another day in Milano

Devil Wears Prada or Milano Day 1 continued.

The day continues. After the Duomo we were in serious need of cool refreshments and lunch. We crossed the piazza and into the Galleria Vittoria Emmanuelle 11. This just so happens to be one of the locations featured in the recent Devil Wears Prada 2 movie and I had promised my sister I would take a photo. Obviously I can’t compete with Meryl Streep, as the scene has her walking through a silent and deserted Galleria. Not so today as hundreds streamed through, most likely totally unaware of where they were, other than visiting a beautiful shopping arcade.

 

 

 

 

 

We dined at Biffi. It’s front and centre of this 4 way arcade. Alfresco of course, to watch the Milano (and visitors) parade  Usually I wouldn’t mention the cost of meals, but this one was a stand out.  Just to start with there’s an 11 Euro ($18AUD) service charge. Service charges are normal in Italy but usually range from 1 to 2 Euro per person. I ordered a salad and Geoff the sea bass, then there’s the aqua frizzante (sparkling water), because water of any sort is never supplied free of charge. Add to this one beer and a half bottle of Pinot Grigio and two caffes to finish and we parted with 135 Euro ($220AUD). I wouldn’t have minded if Stanley Tucci dropped by today to pick up the tab – maybe next time!!
