Central Otago Rail Trail. Kokonga – Middlemarch Day 5
Tuesday 31st March 2026
Our final day. My muscles are stronger and my determination to complete our trek remained strong. I chose not to cycle across the Capburn Bridge. It looked perilously narrow for my liking, besides it gave me the opportunity to enjoy the view. We cycled to Hyde for a coffee and continued onto Middlemarch and the end of the trail. We completed 42kms today and all by lunchtime. After a quick refreshment break we were whisked away by road back to Clyde, a change of drivers and onto Queenstown. We checked into the Hilton by the lake where I slipped into a hot, bubbly bath for a relaxing soak.
