Day 12  Waihi – Rapaura Gardens, Coromandel Peninsula

We drove out of Waihi and headed north along the Peninsula stopping for a coffee at Whangamata.  We decided on accommodation, bought some grocery supplies and some wine and made our way to the Gardens. The road was difficult driving, very narrow and gravel all the way. We arrived in one piece, met Sasha the owner and settled in for the next 3 nights. We have a huge timber house with plenty of space to spread out.  We are only using the upstairs which has the main bedroom with ensuite, a fully equipped   kitchen, elevated dining room, large lounge room with plenty of comfortable seating and a fireplace.  The upstairs area alone includes 5 balconies. One of the balconies is enclosed in glass.

This place does not have mobile signal or Wi fi so we are now enjoying reading their selection of reference books and novels in front of the fire listening to their choices in music. Simply wonderful.

The entire house has been very tastefully decorated with interesting paintings, sculptures, lamps, ornaments and very comfortable soft furnishings.  We love it.
